Banbury Michaelmas Fair OCTOBER 2018

10/22/2018

Its that time of year again where the annual street fair is in town.  Our street fair is always in the middle of October and is on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Now it isn't the biggest fair out there but there is a good mix of rides and attractions to suit all tastes.  The little kids rides are £2.50 per person, then the family rides are £3 per person and then the bigger rides are £3.50 or £4 per person.  You can pick up vouchers from the local papers and shops or Bob Wilson will usual have some vouchers you can print from there Facebook page.

We did spend a fair bit this year (almost £50) but Rebecca did 10 or 11 rides plus Robert and I did a few with her.

Some of the rides we did:

1. TWISTER

Picture

This is the weakest Twister we have ridden and we need to try an remember not to ride it when we go next year.  Not sure if it is on a milder setting because of it being earlier in the afternoon but it isn't very long either

Price to ride: £3 per person

2. Mini Parachutes

Rebecca loves these - the bigger ones even more.  It's only the little ones that come to Banbury.

Price to Ride: £2.50 per person

3. Waltzers

Rebecca loves the Waltzers.  I hate them so it's Robert's job to take her on.

For the first half of the ride, even with 3 ops no one spun their car so that was a bit disappointing.  However when they guy came over and Robert told him to give it some welly, he didn't leave the car.  Rebecca said it was the best ride she has been on!

Price per person: £3.50

4. The King

Now I have wanted to try the king since it started coming to Banbury.  Every year we have been down it had a massive queue so hadn't bothered with it.

This time there was no queue so I rode it and was really glad I did.  It is really intense and a lot of fun!

Price per ride: £4

5.  Cars

Picture

I didn't note the name of this ride.  It is themed around Disney's Cars.  The cars go round and over two little humps.  Rebecca insisted she wanted a go.  It did look a little boring but I can imagine the little ones would love it

Price per ride: £2.50

6. Super Bob

This is another one of the rides that we won't be doing next year.  This one doesn't run very smoothly and is a bit jolty in places.

Price per person: £3.50

7. Super Bounce

Rebecca really likes these.  I use to love them when they first come out but some of the older ones are quite scary.

This one is one of the better ones we have been on and I really liked and enjoyed - just wish the cycle was a bit longer.

Price per person: £3.50

8. Mini Ferris Wheel

Every time we go to the fair Rebecca want to ride the ferris wheel.  And it always has to be the one with the swing seats.
She said she loves the way this one feels when it goes over the top.  May have to see if we can find a bigger version somewhere....

Price per ride: £2.50

9. Mini Wave Swinger

Picture

Rebecca loves Chair-O-Planes/Wave swingers which is bad news for us as both Robert and I hate them!  At the moment, she is quite happy going on the smaller ones at the fairs.
Luckily she hasn't been interested in a Starflyer yet!

Price to ride: £2.50

10.  Car Ride

This is another ride that Rebecca is getting too big for now.  Even tho she is only 5 she could only just fit inside the car....

She still really enjoys them and laughs when the cars go down the hill!

Price per ride: £2.50

11. Go Gater

Picture
This was Rebecca's first ever rollercoaster when she was 18 months old.  Every year she goes on it now and tells everyone that fact.

This Go Gater does allow adults to ride (most don't) so Robert and I got the credit back in 2014.

Price per ride: £2.50

12.  Tea Cups

As we were leaving Rebecca spotted the Tea Cups.  This was the last ride at the fair. The ride attendant does the spinning so they don't go very fast but Rebecca was sat looking very chilled.

Price per Ride: £2.50

Other rides

There are a lot more rides at this fair than what we did.  Rebecca really wanted to ride the Miami but she was just touching the line.  So we decided to wait until next year for her to ride.
